I was born in North East Lincolnshire and first began piano lessons at the age of five in the classical style and have constantly progressed from there studying both piano and pipe-organ.

Having previously sat the ABRSM piano and pipe-organ exams, I graduated in 2000 from the University of Huddersfield with a BMus Honours degree in Music, where I specialised in performance, musicology, composition and music technology. Since then I continue to play in rock and pop bands primarily playing keyboards and piano but also adding vocals where necessary, this has also allowed me to develop my skills in improvisation and composition with over thirty years of professional playing undertaken. I also work as a piano, keyboard and music theory tutor, music arranger and have been musical director for many local shows.

When not playing piano or keyboards, since the age of 16, I have held Organist positions at various local Churches in the North East Lincolnshire area. Between 1993 and 2002, I was Organist of St. Peter and St. Pauls Church, Healing, North East Lincolnshire. Since 1999, I have been Organist of St. Michael’s Church, Little Coates, Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire where I am responsible for all musical output for the Church and continue a healthy Church Music tradition. I am also a member of the Royal School of Church Music. These experiences have allowed me to develop my craft and I am regularly called upon to deputise for Organists at other Churches in the local area.

Whilst being able to read music to a high standard, in my early years  of playing I discovered that I had developed the great skill of being able to ‘play by ear’, which essentially means that once I have heard a piece of music, I am able to play it almost straight away. This is very useful when playing for functions as it allows me to add pieces of music which are personal to the client/clients into their set.

Besides playing for weddings, I have also performed as a pianist in a variety of different venues including restaurants, hotels and pubs. From Bach to The Beatles, Liszt to Lloyd Webber, my piano repertoire is a mixture of easy listening, jazz, pop, classical and songs from the shows etc which is ever expanding and is based on years of experience. I will also happily incorporate any special request songs into the set if notified in advance.
